A native from the small town Danville, Illinois, Gerald L. Wade began singing in the womb for his family members and church choir. In elementary he became apart of his school's band, where he played the trumpet. Raised in a church as the P.K kid , Gospel music helped to shape Treasure development as a vocalist and musician. Treasure strong love for music and his buding talent attracted him to other types of music such as R&B, Blues and Jazz. Treasure so eloquently incorporated these sounds in his music, vocal style and songs that he has written. Later in age, Lamar and his family left the small town and moved to San Francisco, CA. There, he experienced culture shock all the while excited to be introduced to live bands, different types of talented people. playing various instruments such as the piano, trumpet, guitar, bass guitar, clarinet, and drums; Nothing could hold Treasure back from picking up a new instrument and learning that one as well. While living in the big city of San Francisco Treasure took it upon his self to take vocal lessons to refine and strengthen his raw vocal dexterity. Treasure began performing in and around San Francisco as well as . After realizing that he needed a plan B, Treasure moved to Sacramento, CA to pursue his education in automotive. While he went to school, Treasure kept his talents alive by performing in local venues such as the Home grown soul, Hard Rock Cafe, The Three Monkeys and he even sung in the popular talent competition named the "Sac Idol". After graduating from college, Treasure decided to focus on producing music for his songs.
Inspired by a large range of artist such as Michael Jackson, Al green, D'angelo, Jamie Foxx , Lauren Hill and Aisha Addaire. Lamar looks foward to his time to shine. A self proclaimed conscious R&B artist, Treasure keeps his music down to earth and true to his personality by singing about life, love and subjects that his audience can relate to. You could describe Treasure's lyrics to be daring, heartfelt, passionate and real.
