I acquired the name Mister 4-20 from a friend in 1999 because of my April 20th birthday. Soon after, it became my trademark and I changed my production name to 4-20 Productions and have been using both names ever since. Those names have been on lock for over ten years. I'm also proud to introduce my son, theREALmister420 / RKGJ Productions, who is also a part of the 4-20 Productions team.
I started playing guitar in early summer 1983, almost 28 years ago, and I've been creating and recording music since Tascam 4 tracks in the late 80's. My influences range from Funkadelic to Pantera and I am a deep Reggae fanatic for the last decade. From early on, I have always felt that the music you create is more important than your ability to play as a musician. I started engineering with Pro Tools late 1996 and have been producing electronic beats since 1999-2000 when my life will allow. I produced 3 songs on Jaz's "Criminology" released 2003-2004 by City 2 City Entertainment. Criminology features artists like Too $hort, Suga T and Hollow Tip.
Music has been a large part of my life and a passion of mine as far as I can remember. Music is food for the soul and it's universal. It can allow you to bond with someone you might not have anything else in common with otherwise. Like herb, it's therapeutic and good medicine. I have to have my music fix daily. Whether I am creating or listening.
