Farrah Burns was born in Lil Haiti in Miami, FL. Her Mom and Dad separated at a very young age, and being the only child Farrah found solitude in using her imagination by pretending to perform in front of millions. She had a dream then, that's coming true now. After moving to New York in the early 90's it was a complete culture shock. The narrow streets, graffiti, subway and over sized hoodie with construction boots proved that she wasn't in the south anymore. She instantly fell in love with the culture and new that she was at the right place at the right time. She began writing short stories then poems which led to songs and eventually rapping. "I didn't grow up listening to hip hop. I listened to what my mom listened too. In our house it was Kompa, Anita Baker, Sade, Michael Jackson, Tito Puente and Julio Iglesias. Come to think of it my first concert was Julio Iglesias at the Orange Bowl in Miami, I didn't understand a word but I danced & cheered and dreamed of being on stage just like him one day".
Farrah wasn't far from her dream Errol Bailey and Tony Wells two upcoming business men believed in her talent and invited her to there basement studio in Jamaica, Queens and the rest was history. She dove into music 200% a hard-worker and borderline perfectionist became a skillful Writer and MC. Now some critics have already labeled her the "Beacon of Hip Hop", a "Powerhouse" or simply one of the "Best Female Rapper" out. A title she respectfully deserves after winning an Under Ground Music Award for "Best Female Rapper in 2008". She started headlining in some New York city hot spots like SOB's, Southpaw, Joes Pub, Knitting Factory, Webster Hall, Lyricist Lounge, APOLLO etc. She's collaborated with Rock "Heltah Skeltah", John Robinson, Chester Gregory, Drawzilla, Empire Isis and more. She is definitely setting the bar not just as a female hip hop Artist but an Artist in general, challenging other Artist to dig deeper. Her first debut album "Oval Metal" released in 2007 (Available on itunes) was a beautiful introduction to her storytelling and wordplay. She then took couple of years off to explore & nurture her mind, heart & soul. After a three year hiatus Farrah Burns emerged with a power house, Shot Gun Wedding (produced by Kurser Fabrice). It's a ground breaking song about her fathers insecurities with skin color & her mother's struggle w/ alcoholism, violence and betrayal.
She teamed up with videographer Glen Graham and created a visual masterpiece that will pull you in.
Farrah Burns also known as Farrah Boulé is not afraid to rep her Haitian Roots. In 2011 she teamed up with Haitian All- Starz and released "Who is Farrah Burns?" EP w/ DjayCee (available on Datpiff). It gives you a quick synopsis of what this rising star is trying to accomplish, and that's reaching the masses on a global level. On 11-11-11 she will be releasing the "In Pursuit of Hip Hop" The Anthology under her independent label Anti-Hollywood Music Group. A very special project she hopes will help change the course of Hip Hop. In this project Farrah explores the different dimensions of Hip Hop like Back pack, Reality Rap, Freestyle, Storytelling and Mainstream. Tracks like "A Dead Beginning" is a cold callus love affair that's one sided. "New York State of Mind" featuring 7th Element is an all female rap group Farrah created, and presumably performs acting out all seven members. Last but definitely not least the ever seemingly popular track "Patience" A heart felt emotional letter to the world. I will close off with some powerful words by yours truly Farrah Boulé Burns. "My passion is people, I will never give up on mankind and the endless powers and possibilities we possess. I will continue to sacrifice myself at every performance till there's nothing left. Fame, money and all the worldly possessions mean absolutely nothing to me, it never did. My dream is to one day have the biggest family in the world that stretches across the universe. In
