Jerrod Gore or Rod G for short, started rapping at the age of nine. He is originally from the Kenworth neighborhood, but around the age of five, his family relocated to East Ridge. Rod always admired hip hop, to the point he gave it a shot. His older cousins turned him on to the more Rhythm Tic, Diverse, Rap style, which he would later steal tapes from them. During that time he began to format his rap delivery. Separating himself from every other Rapper he has ever heard, Rod used to record himself using a dual cassette boom box with a microphone input. After a while, Rod gave his tapes to his god brother RE-37 and they formed a group call Pistol Posse. Then that summer, BI and RE-37 collaborated on a production track that changed the game and the group Paradox was formed. Rod G, or Shurely was featured on a number of project with BI, RE 37, Young Flossaz on Life Design Records, Sahringe, Mark Rose, and all the artist on Jenk$ Ent. Albums like Versatility, The Takeova Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, & both In Tha Trunk Editions. During that time, he changed his stage name to "Shurley Da Don" from an anonymous source. In 2003 he relocated to Memphis, TN to better his life and family. With good contacts, he builded numerous relations in the Shelby County area. Pella & C-Dub, who was featured on songs with MJG, & Trick Daddy, & The Volunteers are just a couple of helpful "plugs" he came across in Memphis. In 2005 he moved back to North Carolina to expand his empire. With sources in Houston TX, Shurley started recording, mixing, & mastering. Not only for himself, but for other local Hip Hop, R&B, & Reggae artist such as, Chad B, F-Gotti, Malicious, Yung Gwap, Ruff Mane, Codac, & Ian Sweetness. After 5 years of teaching himself how to master the art of sound, his first independent solo effort in the form of a mixtape was released to the streets. "Don $tatu$ Pt. 1 (Waiting Arrival)", a classic overall piece of work, captured the concept of one man striking the globe in less than 80 mins with a sensible, well conducted, and modus peace of work. Following that is another classic mixtape he orchestrated as well name "The Art Of Grindin" by Codac. He is currently working on his first album, and the second instalment of the mixtape series Don $tatu$ Pt. 2 set for release very soon.
