If you haven’t already heard, there is a groundswell around the corner, you mustn’t miss. With rising momentum and power, Driftwood Allies are set to hit like a tsunami on a shore near you.
Their delicately woven, fusion threads, of roots, rock, reggae, funk and ska, deliver a unique brand of infectious groove. Having supported some of Australia’s Roots and Reggae heavyweights, Bomba, The Red Eye’s, and local titans, Ebb n’ Flo, ‘The Allies’ are ready to enter the ranks with their EP ‘Solidarity.’
Driftwood Allies originated as a trio in Woolgoolga over three years with core members Ashley Gibb, Josh Cansdell and Kahlil (Louie) Messer. More recently the group has been honoured to include the sweet vocal exploits of Rachel Maxwell (Wasabi) and the turntable genius of Joelism, to deliver an action-packed show like none other.
Earlier this year the crew travelled down to Sydney to record their first major EP, “Solidarity,” at the prestigious ‘Studios 301.’ With five solid tracks on a disc, Driftwood Allies are set to blow the roof off a venue near you for the official ‘Solidarity’ EP Launch.
Whether you’re trudging your way through the jungle or droppin’ in to a 6ft bomb, solidarity of the people is where it’s at! Drawing inspiration from the local area this Trio seek to capture the STOKE!

Driftwood Allies recorded their debut EP at Studios 301, Sydney ealrier this year. The very anticipated release of this work is now here! With the first release to be held in the home town of The Allies, there will be more to follow. From Brisbane to Sydney, the messsage will be heard. Driftwood Allies have been working hard on a range of new fresh material and continue to compile a smash up of differnet genres and sounds to deliver a unique sound. With new members such as Rachel Maxwell, Vocals and Joel Grimson, Vinal/samples, It keeps getting better. Keep an ear out for your chance to catch this eclectic group deliver the good vibes and sweet uniting beats at a venue near you!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure you catch Driftwood Allies this March as they play along side of two of Australias finest Reggae/ Dub acts, The Red Eyes and Bomba. The Seaview Tavern will be playing host to The Red Eyes on the 5th of March 2011. Nominee for "Best Blues and roots album of 2010" and album of the week on PBS FM and Radio Australia, are amongst the many highlights of The Red Eyes musical achievements. With a live perfomance that is sure to make your night, The Red Eyes are definately a hard act to follow. If there is anyone that can follow an act like The Red Eyes, the one and only Australian Reggae sensation Bomba will without a doubt have the ability to do the trick. Bomba will be playing a two day East Coast tour beginning on the 25th of March at The Hoey Moey in Coffs Harbour. Niki Bomba, the current percussionist for The John Butler Trio is sure to demonstate his versatlity as a musician as they bounce their way up the Pacific Highway.
