With the ability to stun a crowd with captivating lyrics and a broad ranging voice, Nycole August is the versatile r&b/pop/rock/reggae artist the music business has been longing for. She possesses the tone of Mariah Carey, the soul of Etta James and the subtleness of Toni Braxton with a stunning 4 octave range. Nycole August born Erin Nicole Watkins of Odessa, TX comes from a musically inclined family. Her father is a vocalist and musician and her mother is a vocalist as well. So it was inevitable at a very young age that she would be hit with the music bug.
While attending high school she performed in many musical plays and won various awards for her vocal talents. She knew that being an entertainer was something she really wanted to do. Upon graduating, she moved to Houston to pursue her dream while working part time at a retail store and attending cosmetology classes. She was introduced through a friend to a producer. She endured many hardships resulting in moving several times, but was still able to complete a demo. Because of scheduling difficulties, she and the producer broke ties.
Fortunately through an acquaintance, she was introduced to Henry Stewart and Donald Watkins of South Records/Hittfest Productions. Being amazed by her vocal abilities, they decided to begin working on her debut project-"The Nycole August Experience" a 6 song EP album which was finished in 2008. The Freak Me Song was the first single on the album with raving reviews from Junior's Cave Online Magazinequoting - "She is bringing back to the music industry the sensual side of R&B/Soul music with her sultry smooth vocals. The Freak Me Song has put Nycole closer to her dream because of Cd Baby, I-tunes, Rhapsody, Napster and many more sites where the hit is available for download. She has gained recognition from fans all over the world as her single is in regular rotation on Jango.com and many other internet radio stations. She has also gained the number 13 spot on the rnb indie charts on IndieCharts.com. But once again life took its toll on Ms. Nycole August and she was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis causing her musical career to come to a slow down as she couldn't go anywhere witnessing the horrible symptoms of this disease. In 2010 she made the decision to have the surgery that would enable her to pick up her life, family and career and push closer towards success. Ms. August is now in the studio working on her sophomore follow up album that is scheduled to be finished late 2011.
Nycole August has performed in many places ranging from Texas to Alabama and is even going to be soon making a mark Internationally. As well as gaining much attention with her debut EP album and working on another, Nycole has also started up her own live entertainment business-Nycole August Live Music Entertainment. She will be offering live music with backing tracks and light dj-ing, karaoke and kids karaoke will be something she works towards in the future.
