Music is hard. There is equipment, practicing, rehearsals, networking, recording, promotions, continuing education, writing and I can't think of anymore at the moment but I'm sure there is more. As a musician you're are an entrepreneur, there is honestly no way around it. That's not why I started in this business and if I could leave that aspect of it behind without much of a thought. What I do enjoy is the writing, recording, and performing. That's what got me into this - the creativity and enjoyment of hearing a song I wrote or performed enjoyed by people other than myself. Sadly music is not held in high regard. I do not know if that's a USA thing or what, but it's not good. I've been doing this for a long time, and I know I could have done things better along the way, but it's still pains me that I, along with many talented others, cannot devote our time to what we love. Not everyone has that. Not everyone feels the compulsion to create even though they desire it, they can easily put it aside, or maybe it was a struggle, and devote their life to the pragmatic. I've tried, and that doesn't work for me. Working a regular job makes me bitter and hateful of my circumstance. Some would say I'm being contrite and not realistic, but that's not the point. Music is not practical but it is a great gift to have which everyone can enjoy, nd this world would be less without it.
