Lawrence D. Parker Sr. was born on September the 24, on Avery St. directly behind MoTown, on Detroit’s Westside. “If you walked out the backdoor of The Hitsville building, you could see my grandmother’s house. That’s how close I grew up to the music. It’s like it lives in me.” He is the nephew of legendary singers Melvin & Leslie Wilson of The New Birth. Besides that, Lawrence Parker has a great passion for poetry. He has written several poems, some of which were even published. One Christmas, my mother bought me a Casio keyboard that played Christmas carols, & the keys were illuminated so that you could play along. In a matter of weeks I had learned how to play all of the tunes and got bored with those, so I started creating my own melodies.
