Part artist, and part machine, the Artful Todger spent his youth following his merchant father from brothel to brothel. Whilst waiting downstairs for his father to end his "business meetings," the young Artful Todger would enjoy the entertainment provided by dancing girls and robot music artists. This constant stream of entertainment would forge the music and visual aesthetics for the Artful Todger.
How did the Artful Todger become part machine, you ask? Well, the young Todger joined the Zeppelin Force shortly after University. It was during his tour of duty that he and numerous other Zeps were forced to undergo medical experimentation by the Zep scientists who were developing super soldiers for military conquests.
The Artful Todger escaped the Zeppelin Force, but only after the mad Zep scientists modified Todger's head and brain with a robotic "enhancement." Since becoming A.W.A.L. Todger has delivered his dissident message through song in underground theaters and halls, as well as the ethernet.
