Gene Dawson began playing guitar in Memphis, TN in the 1960's. He moved to Maryland in 1969, he became a member of the Folk Rock group Meretrix who recorded in New York. After starting a real estate career and a family, Gene became a songwriter in the late 80's while performing in various groups. Gene's original 1960's group, The Imperials was included in a book titled, "The Memphis Garage Rock Yearbook, 1960-1975" and his first guitar currently hangs in the private collection of the Rum Boogie Cafe on Beale Street in Memphis, TN. Since retiring in June, 2013, Gene is increasing his concentration on songwriting and recording.
