Camilo was born on July 5, 1988 to a musical family in Bogota, Colombia. His father, Leonel Velandia, being a musician, began to teach him music from the age of four. Camilo continued his music studies as he grew up and took up the violin in middle school. After studying classical music for several years, he found his true love, the guitar. After many years of hunger to learn more about the instrument, he realized he wanted to do nothing else for a living. Camilo began his jazz studies with a private teacher throughout his high school years and then continued his studies with Tom Lippincott and Mitch Farber (Julio Iglesias, KC & The Sunshine Band). At the same time, he continued to study many recordings and albums of his favorite players, like Scott Henderson, George Benson, Frank Gambale, Chick Corea, and Jonathan Kreisberg, with whom he had the opportunity to study with. Camilo has opened for major English acts such as John Legend, Stephen Marley and the Marley brothers, Sheryl Crow, T-Pain, to latin artists such as Fanny Lu, Elvis Crespo, Eddie Santiago, Aangel y Krys, to jazz groups like The Rippingsons. He has done recording sessions for many of Miami's top artists and some internationally known artists such as Chayane, Daniel Rene, and more. He has worked with many great producers, such as two-time Grammy-winning producer Randy Barlow (Ricky Martin "Livin' La Vida Loca", J.Lo's "Waiting For Tonight, etc."), grammy nominated producer Carlos DeYarza and more.
