I know it's been said so many times, but I really have been singing since I was a kid - almost as soon as I could talk! I was born and brought up in a seaside town in the south of England - not exactly the typical background for a country singer! I first got into country music in my teens and I got my first guitar at the age of 16. I started singing around the pubs, clubs and hotels in East Kent with a few friends, covering songs by the likes of Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, and many of the all-time greats of country music. I started writing my own songs quite by accident when I woke up one morning with a lyric running round in my head, and "Hello, Nashville?" was the result! A couple of collaborations with a Florida lyric writer (Robbie Smith) followed, and it went on from there, with "Sittin' on the Front Porch" being the next one to be written, just before setting off on a 14-state tour of the mid-West.
