A new genre is emerging from the underground known as SOUL RAP which is SENDING OUT UNIVERSAL LOVE through RHYTHM AND POETRY. SOUL RAP is defined as “Hip Hop" that speaks to the conscious human being by presenting a passionate view point about our society as it is today in hopes to evoke purposeful action toward solutions”. At the forefront of this alternative articulation is the artist MAK LEGEND. His heart felt delivery and poetic lyricism parallels the compassion of artists like Lauryn Hill, India Arie, John Legend & the Roots and his strong melodic vocal quality has been compared to Nas and LL Cool J.
As a by-product of a household that supported diversity when it came to what played out of the speaker box; Mak cultivated the ability to create music that appeals to people from all walks of life. His debut solo mixtape project “The Greatest Rapper Never Heard” reveals the ‘big brother’ persona of Mak to share wisdom with those who are misguided and disillusioned with tough but genuine love.
Described as a “refreshing change in Hip Hop”, Mak plays his voice like a rhythmic instrument over bombastic beats that makes your head move instinctively. Refusing to settle for being associated with a dying form of artistic expression; Mak’s purposeful action is to revolutionize Hip Hop to restore innovation and positivity one song at a time.
