The Auto-biography of C.Y THE CITY WITHOUT THE I.T
COREY MARKS is an ordinary young man born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Mr. Bernard Corbett and Ms. Vanessa Marks on November 30, 1986.
As a little boy, C.y always loved to dance and sing, and would entertain his family and friends all the time. Before long, he realized that he had a natural talent and moved toward activities that would help him to enhance and pursue his interests in the performing arts arena.
While C.y was a young boy, he was taken under the wing of his grandfather and trainer Kenny Mason who would take him to the “Sheppard Boxing Gym” each day. There, Corey learned the skills, techniques and discipline that have also made him an expert in the field of amateur boxing in his weight class at 165lbs. (middle-weight). Corey continues to pursue his training and works diligently in the gym, mastering his art while also fulfilling his commitments to his performing arts career. Corey has won the Golden Gloves Championship for two consecutive years – 2004 and 2005.
Though C.y has spent all of his life in what is commonly known as “the ghetto”, he has never allowed peer pressure and/or the “powers that be” influence him in ways that affect him negatively. C.y’s father died of AIDS when Corey was just a young child and his mother was on drugs for years, which left C.y to be a victim to “the streets”; so at a young age, Corey has suffered and withstood the wiles of direct as well as indirect contact with drugs and other such related evils – thus being a victim of his environment. However, instead of allowing himself to be drawn into the negative aspects of that realm, he has risen above the norms and continues to strive for a promising future – one that his family and friends, and most importantly – he himself can be proud of.
At 23 years old, Corey is a mentor in his neighborhood, spending time with the young children in his neighborhood and engaging in conversation about their futures and the importance of education and self-respect. If ever a pioneer there was in the form of a young, male trendsetter from inner-city Philadelphia, it is none other than the BEDDROOMBULLY
