His casual attitude at that moment of pinnacle achievement was hard-earned.Born Carlos I Talavera Alvarez on July 22,1982
-when his mother was just 17-and raised without the benefit of a father,he grew up in a relatively bucolic suburban Nicaraguan setting, but that soured after his family relocated to Los Angeles,CA.
Badly bullied and surrounded by gangs throughout his teenage years. The result was an accelerated,knuckle-splitting maturation that found an appropriately untamed outlet in rapping. The Flow was on his way.Despite the fact that his 1996 debut "Los Tiradores vol.1" went virtually unnoticed, within two years,he attained-via "Kings of Flow" the sensational international succes that made him a household name."Kings of Flow"
You have to be a glass half-full kind of guy to write lyrics like "Seguire Esperando" and "Lo que seria and what of time" while collecting unemployment. It takes a different level of optimism to write those songs when your car has been repo'd and you're dodging eviction notices.
But such is World/Reggea/Latin/Urban Songwriter/Kings of Flow lead singer Carlos (The Flow) Talavera's in the power of "Flow." Does it work? Consider this: "Libertad," which The Flow wrote amid personal crisis,is now the title track of his award-winning recording debut as part of "Kings of Flow"

The rollout of mobile music content builds on the earlier strong performance of the smart phone app, which saw high adoption rates among Kings Of Flow fans and iPhone and BlackBerry users. The new music and video service will allow Kings Of Flow fans who download the IHeartRadio app to view Kings Of Flow content from Clear Channel Radio's "Stripped" series of unsigned artist performances, selections from its library of music videos, Kings Of Flow interviews and additional content created by Flow Music, Interscope Digital Distribution, and Clear Channel radio stations. The content can be accessed via the IHeartRadio app home page and the site's format sections.

It's hard to believe that songwriting was not production's original chosen field. In fact, there is more to this songwriter than meets the ear; he is also a singer and producer. Growing up in The San Fernando Valley, California, did your hometown influence your craft? I grew up in a humble place, in the 'hood. The City was infested with drugs and gangs, but the challenge was necessry, because I learned at an early age that the consequences for making bad choices are jail and death. I was really introduced to music by my high school homeboy and now music partner Jose "Montana" Mendoza. Who were your favorite artists growing up? I was blown away by Silvio Rodriguez, Alanis Morissette, Nirvana, and Tupac Shakur - I loved his vision of society and how he was able to project that in his music. What is your greatest accomplishment? I would have to say my first one was to see my name on the credits for the copilation - LOS TIRADORES VOL.1, and to hear my voice on the radio for the first time. Also starting my own music publishing company, Carlos I Talavera Publishing Company and starting Kings Of Flow.
great music yo..thumbs up!
