My interest in music was first captured by my father playing violin at home, classical pieces from mendelsohn, brahms, mozart mainly,my mother played the organ at church every week and so i was provided with the fundamental and rudimentary knowledge early in life. By age 7 i was taught classical violin at home by dad every day, sometimes 4 hrs a day!My intonation and dexterity were good and by age 12 i had passed grade 5 higher royal schools of music theory exams with distinction. With all due respect to the likes of david oustrach and itzaac perlman who superbly define a mendelsohn violin concerto from something written on mere ledger lines to raw human emotion,i am in their debt yet not sold by the mere complexity of what they are trying to convey.I am into bluegrass bigtime now,ive not seen any finer musicians in my 48 years and the sound!the fire in the picking and the sweet harmony in the vocals!its just so righteous!thats the only way to describe it really. I play guitar,hondo-my beloved D28 gets dusted off every now and then and its my desire to one day lay down some mournfull sound that will haunt the airwaves around nashvegas for some time to come.
