Born in Dallas, Texas, partially-raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Q Joseph Kent started taming his voice at the tender age of four in the Sunshine Choir at Joshua Tabernacle MBC, under the direction of Miss Edith Raymond. Singing in the church choir, Q. Jo developed a strong relationship with God.
By the age of eleven, Q. Jo found love in songwriting, first starting with Gospel, then branching out to R&B/Soul and Hip Hop in 1999, to help ease the pain of being laid up at home with a football injury. About this time he also acquired the name Blacq Dogg.
Since 1998, Q. Jo has established himself as a singer/MC/songwriter, and dabbled in production and engineering. He is currently the Creative Director/Sr Writer of Cq Entertainment (a music publishing/production company). Q. Jo's drive is to be a studio engineer & songwriter & to help bring the art & soul back to mainstream music.
