My name is Jamie White. I was born and raised in Ohio but moved to Kentucky in 1999. I was raised around Gospel, Bluegrass and Country music most of my childhood. Music was always a part of my upbringing. My family was musical, My Mother and Grandmother played instruments and would sing at small venues and churches around the area and my dad was a well rounded musician he could play about any instrument that he picked up. As a child I would sing with the family at home but then turning into my teenage years my shyness began to take over and I never sang much in front of people anymore. More less a singing in the car and shower type of girl but music was never far from my mind and heart. Listening and singing by myself affected my feelings everyday.
All my life I enjoyed music from all genres from Rhythm & Blues to Opera but I always took a Special liking to performers such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Wynona Judd, Aerosmith and so Many more.
I actually had never sang in front of to many adults till I reached about the age 33 in 2008. My Mom actually persuaded me to sing New Years Eve at my relatives. I then actually started singing online and started making recordings and videos. I was then asked to sing at a couple local music gathering places. The first time I had been in front of a room full of people to sing was in 2010. I said that was one thing I wanted for My Grandmother and Mom to see is for once the backward little girl break my shyness phobia and prove that I could do it.
I sing now for my enjoyment and if it happens just to touch one person along the way then it is surely worth it. I have been told my voice has soul and a bluesy sound and it is haunting. They also compared my style and sound to Janis Joplin, Wynona Judd. I said I don’t know about that I just know I love to sing. I Thank God for the ability to carry on the family tradition of music.
