Tuwelo (founder of Team Viruz
born Barnard Tuwelo Chuma on
september 8 1984, is a multi
talented lyricist, songwriter,
producer and recording engineer.
At the age of fiftyteen, Tuwelo was
an educational student that always
strived to be one of the brightest
student in the classroom, he often
demostrated his determination by
becoming a frequent straight- A
student during his elementary,
middle and high school years.
He was awarded numerous times
for
his academic performance and
one
of his proudest achievents was his
acceptance to perform with Tuks
Senganga on stage at Olympia
park stadium in Rustenburg (2009)
, and also gave him a platform to
perform at Mochudi' Molefi Senior
Secondary School' in botswana for
National Arts Festival (2010).
Pretoria (2006) was Moribo arts
festival where he managed to walk
away with the certificate in
peforming arts.
Tuwelo was also
selected to entertain Rustenburg
Annual Show in (2009) after his hit
single 'Motswako' with a play
bench mark on Radio Mafisa Fm in
Rustenburg.
Tuwelo furthered his education by
enrolling at Damelin College in fall
2007, Damelin College located in
Cape Town. Rustenburg was an
exiting beggining for Tuwelo as he
challeged himself to achieve more
academic success on the collegiate
level, with aspirations of Media
Studies attendance after
graduation.
Tuwelo was an co
radio personnel with host PPKAY
on Radio Mafisa Fm every friday
between 6pm and 10pm for Hip
Hop Streetwise Show in 2009.
Tuwelo would unravel his creative
songwriting abilities to his peers
and his new art form would take
precedence over his desire to be
one of the strongest, most
educated pupils of his class.
Determined to make an
impression
as a hip hop artist.
Tuwelo
founded a hip hop group name
'Team Viruz' an acronym for '
together everything achieves more
' as he managed to spread his
name Tuwelo around the world
on
his own like Human immune
virus, its where the name Viruz
comes from.
Team Viruz consists of his new
home colleaques as 'Tuwelo, Bee,
Dox andThebzeela'.
They began performin hip hop
music during Tuwelo accademic
year (2011- 2012) and achieved
immediate success. They released
the group Promo Disc EP 'LYRICAL
KOTSI' on December 5, 2012 and
the crowd raved in applause durin
several local and international
performances and in awe of his
charismatic energy, politically
conscious lyrics and commanding
delivery.
Before the foundation of Team
Viruz, Tuwelo started the group
'Explyct Thod while he was still in
middle school while staying at
Marikana West Location during
2002, and they recorded a mixtape
tittled THE FOUNDATION
(unreleased) in 2003.
After few years Tuwelo went on to
stay at Meriting Location to seek
green pastures, He found a job
and moved to Meriting Location
and Explyct Thods broke up due to
long distant residences between
each member ( Cranuimatic,
spontenius and Alcoholic scripts).
Neverthless, the artistic and
outspoken emcee would not take a
break from creating more music
as he made the decision to pursue
his entertainment career full time
over the job he had before Team
Viruz group came to existance.
With dedicated fans in high
anticipation for more music from
Tuwelo, he immediately began
writing, producing and recording
new songs for his first solo album
'life orientation' (unreleased).
During the creative process of
barbarian, Tuwelo was frequently
requested to produce additional
instrumentals for several
independent artist. He remained
occupied and spent each day
working in the studio from fall
2008 to early spring 2009. Tuwelo
was impressed by his own
growth as an artist as he
consistently wrote innovative
songs.
He also produced engaging and
exciting compositions while aiding
other artists with their music
endeavors. At that point, Tuwelo
felt he could take on more
responsibilities in the entertainment
industry.
He was inspired to create
