As a kid I wasn't exposed to a lot of hip-hop. In middle school a friend of mine burned me a copy of Life After Death...and I just didn't get it. I couldn't relate to this guy who was rapping about the streets and the drug game. I wasn't ready for it. A year later my friend burned me a copy of Slim Shady LP. I was floored by it. I was hooked on Eminem's zany flow and ridiculous rhyme schemes. And I knew I couldn't let my mom catch me listening to it or I'd get in trouble... so Slim Shady LP was like this cool secret hip-hop album that I treasured. Now I have to give Eminem credit for getting me into hip-hop, but it was Nas who made me love it. I remember the first time I heard Illmatic. Classic album. I listened to it over and over again until my CD player died. And right then I knew that I wanted to contribute to hip-hop. This thing, hip-hop, it's big. It's massive...way bigger than all of us. Hip-hop is an uncensored voice of the people. Hip-hop is a lifestyle. And it is a movement. I am hip-hop.
