M.C. Relapse, aka Shawn Anderson, was born on April fools day in 1975 in East Los Angeles. As a child, Shawn carried ambitions of being a respected musician/producer/mc in Hip-Hop culture. At 13 Shawn began studio recording and performing live in Hollywood and L.A. as a front man and songwriter for a local hardcore/thrash band called �Mortiria�. Mortitia performed along with Snot, Coal Chamber, System of a Down, Downset, Incubus, Clutch, Strife, and a long list of respected acts. In 1999, M.C. Relapse was born. Shawn changed his style of music to further express himself and his growing affection for southern California and its decadent lifestyles. Since then, Relapse has been performing his unique blend of rap, funk, and hip-hop on stages throughout southern California. His lyrical content is raw, real, and straight to the point. Relapse uses drama, comedy, and brutal honesty in his lyrics to paint an accurate picture of his life. Songs illustrate the struggle of stumbling reluctantly in to adulthood following triumphant yet troubled adolescence. Three of Relapse�s adolescent years were spent in mental health facilities and drug & alcohol rehabilitation centers. Most of Relapse�s songs playfully glorify an adolescence that was highlighted by drug/sex addiction, rehab, and relapse. Relapse is no stranger to the spotlight. It took Relapse four and a half years to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in English from an accredited University in Philadelphia.
