So, let me tell you a little about myself. I was born in McGehee, AR. My name is Sammuel R. Stinyard and my parents, Darryl Stinyard was born in McGehee and my mother, Fentressa D. Crockett-Stinyard, was born in Dermott, AR another small town in the Mississippi Delta. She died when I was 12 years old and it was hard growing up without her. While I played sports in school, mainly basketball and football, my love was and still is my music. It all started when Brandon, a childhood friend, and I started making songs together in high school. I have such a deep passion for my music. I didn’t know where it came from until one of my uncle’s told me about the musical heritage of my mother’s family. Music goes back five generations in my family to Daniel Crockett, a plantation slave who lived in McCall Creek, which is in Franklin County and near McComb, MS. He traveled up and down the Mississippi River to play his fiddle in the late 1800’s until his death in the early 1900’s. The Mississippi Delta is the home to many legendary musical artists. Their music is known throughout the world and has influenced many artists on this planet of all races and colors, including myself. I am proud to say I’m from the delta. Since high school, I’ve worked a few jobs; my longest was with Wal-Mart. But for me, it’s all about the music. I become my ultra-ego, the Beast, when I’m on the microphone, writing a new song or sharing my music with friends. This is what I do and I believe I was put on earth for this reason, well not completely! So, with the help of my family, especially my uncles Byron,and Lawrence, I went to New York City and recorded my first single, ”I’m a Beast”. Within days of my arrival, I met Cam’ron, saw Kanye West, Gladys Knight and started working with producers Eric Lynch, Doug Simpson and CJ of Madface Records who is the legendary Jazz Artist Roy Ayers nephew, Jayme Thornton-an incredible photographer who has worked with other great artists including Jay Z.
