I used to spin 35s on 44 in 1984.
So you see I was making techno a very long time ago.
Later in that era I was also bumping EPMD, Paris, Public Enemy; all the same stuff you were listening to.
I entered rap competitions and won second or first prize.
Never 3rd place and I’m white. LOL, what does that say about my competition?
Maybe I was good or they were really, really bad.
In the mid 90’s I mixed rap with surf punk and started a band by the name of VOXPOP.
I also began hosting party’s witch would feature my band and other real rap acts.
The venues went under the name of HIGHER SOND for 7 years. That’s when I met GStoks.
He was a feature at the jams.
After my band members past away, I met a rapper named Hector Triznain.
I made 3 albums with him and several singles for the streets. The albums were put in stores under “independent”.
In the streets the album was great, but the CANADIAN radio wanted nothing to do with hip hop, and the collages radios
like Ryerson had some major haters that only let there friends get air play. We strong armed a few DJs to play our stuff
and bribed some others, but CANADA hates rap. So pussy.
There so much more I did not touch on, but you get the idea. Yes I’ve been doing music forever…
Did I mention Canada HATES rap? Well they do!
