I'm just a girl who loves God, and communicates my passion, conviction, joy, frustration, hope, and every emotion in between through lyrics. It's how I delt with depression and suicidal times, and it's how I've marked how far I've come, and how much better I hope to be in the future as my roots grow deeper into God's spirit.
I hope that my life and my lyrics act as tassels of Christ: Jesus told his disciples to wear tassels on their clothing to remind themselves of His commandments and the commitments they've made. I hope I can be a tassel, a reminder to others of not only God's commandments, but His love and glory.
Beware, you are now entering... THE COMFORT-ZONE
Jul 9, 2009
Beware, you are now entering... THE COMFORT-ZONE It's a terrible thing.... Being trapped in the Comfort-Zone.. The Comfort-Zone; a place inhabited by the majority of human-kind. This Comfort-Zone is not a healthy place to be, ever, under any circumstance. People become comfortable with their flaws, with their sinful nature. It makes sense though, right? Like the saying goes, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks". I'd say you can, but it'll be a fight, brutal, painful, confusing, awkward, and anything but comfortable. It's easy to just go along with yourself the way you are... I'll just drink like everyone else... Because I'm comfortable with it... I'll just manipulate that person because that's what I do... And I'm comfortable with it... I'll just be lazy and ignore the issues of the world... Because I'm comfortable with it... I'll just pretend that I don't need to change who I am... Because it would be too uncomfortable to try and change.... You bet it's uncomfortable. But it's also worth it. Sit and rot in the Comfort-Zone, wanting to change but not wanting to go through the awkward new situations.... Not wanting to face the reactions of the people who will witness you changing... Not wanting to fail in your quest of self-improvement... Wanting to escape, wanting to be better... To be honest, trustworthy, mature, drug/alcohol free, a role model, someone worth being! Getting out of the Comfort-Zone doesn't mean beating yourself up over your mistakes and personality issues, though.. It's about getting past those flaws, not letting them get the best of you, realizing the negative, harmful impact they have on you and those around you, and working hard to overcome them. You will never run out of ways to change though... It starts by changing habits, changing lifestyles, changing relationships, changing people around you, changing the world... Into something with improvement, something of hope. Get out of the Comfort-Zone... Do something about your bad habits. Don't just expect yourself to self-correct without taking action. Get out of the Comfort-Zone, before it becomes too comfortable.
Why "Tassels"?

I've sort of adopted "tassels" and "fringe" as my goals... as what I hope to be... Why? I'll explain. "You will have these tassels to look at and so you will remember all the commands of the LORD, that you may obey them and not prostitute yourselves by going after the lusts of your own hearts and eyes." -Numbers 15:39 God tells us several times to use tassels or fringe (attatched to our clothing) to remind us of his commands, but I also see them as reminders of His love. I found a website (www.ancient-hebrew.org) and it has an interesting definition for "fringe". Fringe, in Hebrew, is "Tsiytsiyt". The following is what I found on the site. "The word tsiytsiyt is derived from the root tsiyts meaning a blossom. A blossom is a flower that grows on a tree and is the beginning of the fruit. Just as the blossom turns into a fruit, the fringes on the Hebrews garments are also there to bring about fruit in the sense of doing the commands." I hope that I can be a tassel of Christ, a reminder to others of His love and His commands. I hope that He uses me and helps me blossom abundantly and be fruitful through Him. I hope that I can use my blog to share my thoughts and be an encouragement. So, readers, let's all work at becoming tassels of Christ.
