I live and breathe my life as AESUN. I was born Aren Halvarson, and my first memory of my Dad was him beating my Mom. I moved around a lot and I was always trying to make a dollar. I was expelled from every school I attended. I was left alone at 13 with no rent, no food, on curfew. I was a bad ass kid. I was a minority in my high school, a white kid in a sea of other races. I’d rap, and kids would say “He sounds like Eminem”, but the free-styling came natural to me. I had grown up in a broken home. I didn’t have the cash for more school, so I hustled. I’ve done film, and taken acting courses. I got scholarships but never had the money to go. Performing on stage is unexplainable. When I’m up there I disappear and everything in my life disappears until it’s just music and words are all I hear. I have seen everything. My homeboy left outside beside a dumpster, dead from a heroin overdose. I have overcome a serious addiction to drugs. I’d do pretty much anything I could get my hands on from the time I was 19 until I was 24. Before my daughter was born I started writing again. It wasn’t until July of 2009 when I took a song I wrote to Robert Exile. We recorded it, and I thought it was the best track ever. I was hooked immediately. I bought a computer from my neighbour and started looking for beat. I was rapping to any beat that I could find and realizing that writing was the best way to vent years of frustration. To have fun making people smile and laugh makes me feel
