Peter Ashley Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Vocals I started playing the guitar when I was 13 and I've always tried to play a wide range of music. Which ranges from rock and country, to jazz and classical. My early influences included the Beatles; Hendrix and artists such as Cat Stevens, John Williams the classical guitarist and Joe Pass the jazz guitarist.I've has also been writing songs as long as I've been playing the guitar. The early bands I played in in the late 70s and 80s included Cold Eyed Driver which had David Cale in as the lead vocalist and Chris Puleston on drums. I also did some work with John Baccini and he recorded a song I'd co-written with David Cale called Move that body which got TV and radio airplay and can still be bought on the internet from various far flung places. More recently I've played in various bands in the Bournemouth area , with spells in Mind the Gap, Joanna Grey and Idol eyes. I formed Driftwood in 2005 with Jane Metcalfe with a view to doing more acoustic music covering classics from the 1930s right up to present day and that progressed from a three piece into a four piece called Merge in Turn. In which we are doing a mix of covers and original material. I've been writing alot more songs over the past few years after a bit of a barren period. My latest CD No Secret too big 2009 - is now available and its a mixture of pop rock and acoustic pop/ folk songs - have a listen on the Merge in Turn page and let me know what you think.
