I've been playing in bands since I was 12, which was quite a long time ago. I started off playing folk a la Gordon Lightfoot, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, etc. Then I got into a band playing Steppenwolf, Free, Humble Pie, Beatles, CCR etc. I also played trumpet throughout high school in the concert and stage bands. Also in high school I played in some other bands covering the Doobie Brothers, Edgar and Johhny Winter, Uriah Heep, etc. Then I joined a band that played country, jazz and old rock and roll for weddings, etc. I had to learn about 200 songs in 2 weeks, which was a great education. Instead of learning individual songs, I learned about chord changes and song structure. I went to University in Guelph, where I took English and Music for a couple of years until they found out I didn't have grade 8 piano. I did learn a lot about music theory, orchestration, etc. l also played in a band playing original rock/reggae music. This is also where I met my wife, who is from the Ottawa area. After that we moved to Ottawa for a few years, where I played music and curling with some friends that we still get together with frequently. We play Eagles, the Band, Blue Rodeo, Beatles, Steely Dan, James Taylor, Doobie Brothers etc.
