The Central Kentucky Concert Band, now in its 34th year, is widely recognized as the premier, adult concert band in the Commonwealth, as well as one of the finest ensembles of its nature in the southeastern United States. Since 1994, Peter LaRue has served as the Music Director and Conductor of the Central Kentucky Concert Band. Mr. Les Anderson is the Assistant Conductor and Dr. Lee Patrick serves as Chair of the Executive Board. The CKCB has benefited historically from the support of the Kentucky Arts Council, LEXARTS, the Scott County Council of the Arts, Georgetown College, Asbury College and Transylvania University. Having been founded in February of 1976 by Peter Martin and Dennis Van Horn. These visionaries wanted to form an ensemble - "for the hundreds of individuals who play wind or percussion instruments and enjoy playing, yet have no other performing outlet". Martin was quoted in the April 14, 1976 Lexington Herald?Leader as saying, "There is an excitement in concert band that you don't get in any other phase of music making.....members come to rehearsal because they want to be there. There is no other reason than their love of music".
Originally formed as the "Bluegrass Concert Band", the name was soon changed to the Central Kentucky Concert Band as the ensemble began to attract players from throughout the Commonwealth, as well as southern Ohio, West Virginia. Today, the ensemble thrives as it boasts a membership united by a common love of music making. Cu

Hello Gabe, Thank you for the friend request! That is so nice of you and I really appreciate it!
Your page looks terrific. It looks like you've been really busy, but I know it's also a lot of fun to create it the way you want it. I recently joined the Houston Symphonic Band. It is lots of fun except for the drive downtown for rehearsals and concerts. I live outside the city limits so it takes a while.
I just got home from work but I'll definitely listen to your new music later tonight. I hope you have a wonderful and happy Christmas!

Hello Gabe, I checked out your page and all three performances sound terrific, especially "On A Hymn Song Of Phillip Bliss". I wanted to also thank you for adding my page to your fav bands list. I appreciate it very much. My favorite Claude Smith composition is "Acclamation". There are 2 performances on my page, one by the Region X All Region Band, and the other by the 1977 Texas Tech Band. After 2 months, I am finally uploading some more performances this week. The first will be the Cal Poly Symphonic Band from my junior year. I have not been on S.C. for the past 2 months and look forward to digitizing and uploading these recordings again. Good luck to you on your band page and to you and the other musicians in your concert band! Ivan.

Hello Ivan I hope this finds you well!! Thank you for allowing me to add Declaration Overture!! It is a very fine tune, I truly enjoy the music of Claude T. Smith and look forward to more music by him on your page!! I am now in the process of uploading some great symphonic tunes on my page and hopefully you will check them out and enjoy them!! All of the tunes are performed by the Central Kentucky Concert band which I am a performer in, as well as Honor Bands that I took part within my past as a musician! Enjoy and be well!! Hope to hear more from you! Gabe.
