Enough! The young artist music screams enough. Time and time again we have seen music evolve and grow as new technology becomes available. It seems that the Midwest has brought forth a new challenger. $takc, also known as Jerry Duncan was born and raised on the north side of Kansas City, KS. Although $takc is no stranger to the streets. He only speaks metaphorically about the lifestyle he was raised around. The young artist does not consider himself a rapper. $takc refers to himself as a “hip hop artist”. “I paint pictures with my scriptures, why freestyle and talk about it when you can grab a pin and paint the picture.” The story begins deep in the belly of a naval ship docked in the piers of San Diego, CA. Despite living in a rough neighborhood young Jerry still managed to graduate as an honor roll student. Two weeks after his high school graduation, Jerry was shipped off to Navy Recruit Training in Great Lakes, IL. Soon he would make his home on the USS Bealleau Wood. The same ship used in the film Antoine Fischer story starring Denzel Washington. Often the young sailor would take breaks in the smoke pit, where he would hang out and freestyle with other shipmates. This was the birth of his music and soon he would mature into a hip hop jedi. After being discharged from the military, Jerry came back home to KC to see that nothing had improved. In fact, it had gotten worse. So the poet began to write to separate his mind from the world he was cursed never to leave. [$takc]: “I came back home to see nothing but hustlers and shattered dreams. The more I wrote the more people around me started to dream again, so I couldn't stop.” Thats when he met DJ Hobo Tone . Hobo is not only a dj, but also a skilled producer/artist from the KC area. It was Tone that sold the artist his first beat. After seeing the artist perform, Hobo decided to take the padawan under his wing. Stakc began to build his image bringing energy to the stage as Tone's hype man. This gave him the ability to open up for sell out acts such as T.I., Master P, Twista, Trina, T-Pain, Tech N9ne, and many more. [$takc]: “While me and bro was out there I used that time to soak up game. Instead of wasting time trying to put out several different whack albums, I concentrated on my own development”. He went on to write numerous songs featuring them on the internet and mixtapes. He also became the CEO of a self founded entertainment company [Interstate Entertainment]. The label motto is “Do It Moving” which constantly motivates the artist not to stop. $takc also enjoys working in the community. He has assisted in food drives for the homeless, health fairs, and after school programs. This artist has a story to tell, “so please enjoy chapter one.”
