Stray
Stray first began his music career as a singer, fostering his abilities through out his high school and college years with numerous bands and outfits. Most of which would never see the likes of a stage or studio but in-turn would evolve his abilities in many genres. His first love for music was heavy metal and through many hard hours learnt to control his voice to become a powerful (screaming) metal vocalist. Also through his school days Stray also learnt to foster a great love for the acoustic guitar and the pop song structure and to this day has a fast array of original songs. Later in 2003 he would release his first album "AHIMSA" showcasing over 8 of those songs. (Ahimsa was released through out Tasmania and was recorded/funded and released by Stray himself). The album was release under his previous stage name HiPPiE, which he later changed as he believe it never really fitted what he was about it was more of a high school nick name if anything.
So with one album under his belt and many years' experience of metal bands, acoustic guitar and singing, Stray wanted to move onto other things. He had been in many bands by that time and having gone through the experience of recording/hiring and organizing musicians, he learnt it was easier to find a method that would allow him to put all the elements (e.g. drums, guitar, bass and vocals) together himself. Stray then found a new passion for music through production and audio engineering. And through his college years he took as many courses as he could on the subject, learning first hand from some of the best in the state. Then a few years after college he also worked at a local community radio station which continued his love for production, where he later become production manger carrying out the duties of making the adds for the station. This later would lead onto his passion for beat making and hip-hop production.
So naturally for Stray it was hip-hop that he would next turn to. Now being a singer of most styles and a huge fan of all music. He found with hip-hop, he could combine all of it, his production, his singing his lyrics, his song structures and his instruments, letting Stray really get busy with his creativeness.
A few years ago he moved from his small town and moved to the capital city of his state (Hobart) To-bed his roots into the local hip-hop scene and later bond a friendship with three like minded mates to form Copious Crew a 3Mcs hip-hop out-fit (which featured on stage and on tracks a live guitarist) and further his own solo career as an Mc and Producer. 5 years later and Stray is well on his way with his Solo and producing career with numerous achievements and progress.
