I was raised in Greensboro and Charlotte, NC. I fell in love with music as a result of my pops who is a church choir director and from listening to hip-hop with my three cousins who are more like brothers to me. I started out as an MC (which I still am) and won several open-mic battles under the name JB da Risin' Sun. I started producing about four years ago and have been residing in ATL for the past 7 years, working with several artists here. I am part of a group called Seven Seaz and one of the main reasons I started producing was because when we were doing our albums, producers were trying to charge around $800 per beat and when you're an independent artist or group, that starts to add up. That's why I keep an open policy when negotiating the sale of beats to independent artists because I know how it feels being forced to use industry beats and just make mixtape cds. We put our heads together and decided to get an ASR-10 which was my first piece of real equipment and is still a classic although I don't use it anymore. If I wasn't locked up in the studio for all those hours, I know I'd probably be locked up somewhere else so I know I made the right choice. I've made it through a lot and I know there is a lot more for me to do. I don't run from the storm, I instead learned how to dance in the rain.
