I've been writing songs for quite a few years. I've dabbled a little with recording both with hired help and mostly figuring it out on my own. About two years ago I bought a Tascam DP1 and started playing with that, trying to both capture some of what I've already written and some assitance to write fresh songs. I find that plugging into the machine and turing on some vocal reverb is helpful for that purpose. Some of the songs come from improvisation and then I go back and tweak them here and there and some of the songs I sit down with a pen in hand and go through lyric writing one verse at a time, with guitar in hand. I'm self taught musically however I did take in about a year of classical guitar with an excellent instructor named Rodney Machovic. I love writing songs that tell stories mostly about life however I also imagine that fiction has a great deal of influence in what I create. I also have a very strong faith and this influences my story telling and song writing.
