Jahmahl Hughes (born in Miami, Florida), better known by his stage name Young Mal, is an American rapper and producer. He is best known for being a good Music Artist song writer coming up with perfect Hooks to lead to a great song.
The rap world is at a crossroads. In the face of shrinking budgets, music executives rest on their laurels, searching for the next YouTube sensation with a catchy hook and dance move in order to amass digital single sales. While many artists have tried to break through despite an industry melt down, few have been met with critical praise. And the applause for those that have has not been loud enough to sway the course of the current rap market. Looking to excel where his contemporaries have failed, Miami, Florida native Young Mal brings promise of a new day in hip hop music.
Raised by his mother/father in Miami, FL. Young Mal’s hometown of Dade-County would provide much of the sights and experiences that would come to shape his sound. Young Mal fell into rapping at the age of 13 when his Brother and His brother Close Friend spent the summer in Miami, showing him the basics of rhyming. He was instantly hooked. From there he delved deep into the music of hip hop luminaries including Tupac Shakur, Nas and Outkast, taking from them a love for telling stories with an unbridled rigor. Seizing every opportunity to write, at age 15 Young Mal fellow close friend Y.B Gave Him a Music Program and A Microphone To use on a laptop. And on from there it was Magic Finding himself with composition notebooks full of rhymes but no beats of his own to lay them on. Determined to create original songs, He made them off of other music artist beats. Not For long he meant Music producer Lo-Key, Who has been producing for him since 2008.
Feeling the need to be heard, Young Mal used college as a tool to chase his dreams. He attended Miami-Dade College/AIU on Financial Aid, choosing the school so that he could be in the heart of the music industry: AIU Which he attended to take A Music Production course. After polishing his sound and graduating, Young Mal is dropping his debut Mixtape, properly titled “Taking Flight:365” hosted by DJ Wiz Exclusive. A mash up of dusty, soul filled sound beds, raw, energetic drums and an endless range of topics—everything from the Struggle days to A Beginning Of starting New things To have success at what he loves to do —“Only Da Beginning” and “Taking Flight:365 puts Young Mal’s broad palette of lyrical and production talents on display. He vehemently spits over the cascading keys and triumphant strings of the self produced “Taking Flight.”
With such a diverse display, Young Mal is More Then Humble of getting that deal. But as of right now Young Mal main focus is his Mixtapes and His skill Improvement. In the studio everyday making progress and making good tracks, How much effort and time you puts into it, The better you get out of it.
