Pookie wit tha Uzi was born June 25, 1986 in Rutherford County Hospital, Forest City, NC. His father opened a music equipment store when he was 6 yrs old which built a relationship with music. His undeniable love for hip hop grew from listnening to groups like Master P's No Limit Soldiers and Cash Money's Hot Boyz. As early as age of 12, Pookie often recorded freestyles wit his brother on karaoke machines.
Pookie wit tha Uzi is not a traditional christian/gospel rap artist. Most would say his beat selection would probably be more suitable for a pop singer or gangster rapper. However, his lyrical content is biblically accurate from verse to verse. Although, SOUL and RIDER ft Alex J are the first singles off his debut album Psalms 33:3 Pookie is not a new comer to the rap scene He featured on his first mixtape as Pookie wit tha Uzi in 2005. He later was a member of a group called BTR (Bigger Than Rap) organized by Kennis "K-dot" Coleman where he met Keith "Alex J" Jordan Jr.
In Sept of 2011, Pookie wit tha Uzi gave his life to Jesus Christ. He stopped recording and proclaimed to have quit rapping until late 2012 when he recorded his first christian rap song. Inspired by Alex J he began his first project. Along with the release of his debut album Psalms 33:3 on AUG 28th, Uzi is also a founder of Spread the WORD t-shirt company that aims to supply customer with custom scripture t-shirts
