Welcome the the alluring world of Luna Trick!
May 4, 2008
Luna Trick is the creative brainchild of English multi-Instrumentalist, Daniel Staniforth. Classically trained as a Cellist, Staniforth crafts an array of songs styles - ranging from Indie Rock, Shoegaze, darkwave, electronica, space-funk, ethereal, Alt-pop - to more widely experimental. This sophisticated one-man band act follows in the great tradition of Nine Inch Nails, Beck, and early Cure albums. His hybridized guitar style renders many different sonic colours, which are further enhanced by his willingness to explore various instrumentations, both traditional and innovative. FLOWFORTH PRODUCTIONS has recently two full length CDs from Luna Trick - Total Submersion and Hoar Frost Sheen. The CDs are available at CDBaby, Amazon, iTunes, and sample songs can be heard here on SoundClick. Both CDs are full of alternative flavourings and influences from the more creative phases of the last couple of decades. Some comparisons given are the Cure, Bowie, NIN, Radiohead, Beck, etc. - but the songs also contain Staniforth’s unique musical signature. A few songs from Total Submersion have received some Indie radio play, including the historical narrative, "Jacobite" - the tragic story, "Tale of Three Ribbons," - and the dreamscape, "Swimmer & the Siren." Similar stand outs from Hoar Frost Sheen are the critique on religious cruelty, "Orthodox Killers" – the confessional, "Tears in Vino" - and the overtly political "Suffer the Fool". An extra bonus is son, Sylvan, who’s delightful singing can be heard on the poem, "Babbla." Staniforth also composes ambient, neo-classical, and “poet-scapes” under his own name, including the upcoming orchestral CD – Father to Father.
