Jerode Rodgers is a poet/performer/hip hop artist/ rabble-rouser born in the infamous Chicago Cabrini O Green (1985) into a life of violence, drugs, and poverty. The only boy among three sisters, with a single mother, and no father, he had to overcome obstacles far greater than that of a typical boy his age. Jerode was first given the name “Jeronimo” when he moved to a highly crime-and-drug-infested area of Chicago called the Low End. He stayed there in the roach-ridden CHA building with his mom and three sisters after going in and out of shelters for many years. This was where he was first introduced to hip hop in the form of freestyle and battling; he was so intrigued with it that he dedicated all his time to perfecting and learning the art form. Since that fateful summer in 1999 when he was only 15 years old, he has released a mix tape, published poetry in the Hyde Park Herald and Matrix magazine, performed in Louder than a Bomb, Trivoltle Café, Showcase Park (Minnesota), Spoken Word Café, Urban Impact, The Mix, the U.S Beer Company, Jones commercial college prep, Kenwood Academy, and appeared in a documentary film produced by Smog Veil productions
