Boreal has been in the works since early 2004. The band worked diligently to establish a solid sound as a four-piece Progressive Metal band until early 2006 when they began work on their first release titled "The Intricacies of Form". During this time they played many shows from the Reverb and The Docks in Toronto, to the Foundation in Barrie, winning many awards such as First Prize at the Soundclash, Second Prize at both the Friendly Stranger 420 show and the Bandwars, Third Prize at Band on the Run, and the Wildcard Winners at the Rogers Battle of the Bands, winning over a combined of 20 hours recording time at Machinehead Studios. Having the album instrumentally recorded, creative differences separated the vocalist and the rest of the band forcing Boreal to make a difficult decision: take the time to look for another vocalist, or rewrite all the vocals and stay as a 4 piece. Being growing technical musicians, Boreal took this as an opportunity to further expand their creativity. Having 3 vocalists would allow them to create more advanced harmonies and use their collective voices as one instrument. The Intricacies of Form was released on Halloween of 2007 and is currently available for purchase from the band at any live performance. Boreal is putting the finishing touches on their next album.
