Southerngovna was born in Frankfurt Germany, October 8th, 1985, on a US Military Base to his 17 year old mother, Tamika. When he was young his family moved back to the United States and took up residence in Texas. According to SG, "She joined the army, we moved to the slums of Killeen, Tx, then to South Austin in Dove Springs, where I grew up quick; Seeing and getting involved in drugs and violence at a young age.” While he has a younger & older sister and a father, Govna says his mother is his hero; they have a close relationship. At times, she worked multiple jobs to help support the family and give her children a proper chance at success. From a young age, he liked rapping and entertaining; These two things, combined with his surroundings and upbringing, attracted him to the idea of rapping as a career. Always knew he would be involved in the Hip Hop music industry; it wasn't a conscious decision or accident, but the path he naturally seemed to end up on. SG's unique style is a mixture of essentially-effortless raw talent, creativity and ingenuity; he is influenced by artists such as DMX, Slim Shady, Chamillionaire, Jay-Z and UGK. He performed his first show at Antones. Other venues that he has performed at include: Victory Bar & Grill, Ruta Mayas, Kickbutt Coffee, Waco Convention Center, Horseshoe Bar, private gigs, and Beauty Bar.
