Being able to adapt is a must that every soldier must learn: survival on the battle field demands it. The first time you listen to "The Message", the debut offering from them Southern Folkz, you will understand that these two artist-soldiers are redefining just what adaptation really means. Stationed together in Texas at Ft. Hood, Thomas (BIG BEN) Benjamin and Richard (Kinfoke Jack) Jackson first connected in 2001. BIG BEN and Kinfoke Jack quickly learned that they both share the same goal: to make good music. Almost from the day they met, they started writing songs together and with constant encouraging from peers and their fellow soldiers Kinfoke Jack and BIG BEN started recording the songs and what they now call " Da Front Porch Album ''. They continued working on this project until the Army activated their unit for a tour of Iraq.
When asked if they had one chance to tell others their feelings about todays rap scene Dem SouthernFolkz replied with the statement, "The reason why today's music sucks is, Artist have been chasing a dream and at the same time selling the fans/buying public a fantasy when reality is what people need. And until we get back to Real Music minus the fab five Topics, Sex,Drugs,MDK(Murder,Death,Kill),Club etc.., and Me. We will continue this endless roller coaster ride called "This Sucks". With The Message Album, We're trying to give the people an alternative view and a choice to choose music with LIFE in it or music that's stuck on repeat".

What it do Family, its ya boi Kinfolk Jack of Dem SouthernFolkz just finished our debut video entitled The Message which is the First Single off our Album The Message (coming real soon). With everything that's going on in today's world from crime to the struggle we felt that this would be the perfect song to wake people up to what's going down right before our eyes. (its like our eyes are closed wide open and the only thing we see is our version of reality....) So before I turn to Rev DR. Kinfolk Jack...lol.....I would like to share on behalf of Dem Southernfolkz The Message feel free to leave a comment and share with as many people you feel that needs to hear the message.....Kinfolk Jack...........Dem SouthernFolkz speak for the People!!!!!
