Being born in Louisiana, one of America's richest source of jazz, soul music, and blues, I was early inspired to play the trumpet. When my family moved to Los Angeles I became intrigued with whole Hip Hop culture that was emerging from New York, in which its influence and popularity was particularly strong. Then it was all about Hip Hop and rap music, mostly swap meet mix tapes. In High School, my tagging homeboy from my crew and I would go back to my house to play video games and listen to music. Prince seemed to be one of the favorites that wasn't rap. I was really feeling the funk guitar rhythms and lead solos in his songs. But then it was when I heard Peter Frampton's "Frampton Comes Alive" I just had to pick up the guitar. I remember locking myself in the bathroom for hours playing Hendrix and Zeppelin riffs. Later I began playing guitar and singing with different bands and a couple of churches around L.A. I was playing about 4 to 5 nights a week and had a blast doing it. My days were mostly spent writing and recording in the studio. Now it is important for me to capture that magic in the studio first. You can expect to hear Hip Hop collaborations as well as an more eclectic songs. ~DJ B Nise
