I have been writing music since the early 1970s, and still have the bulk of my compositions dating back to 1973 (beginning with Book 2—all but a page or two from Book 1 has been apparently lost, but it's no real loss...really). But in the 1990s, I had gotten too busy with other things to continue composing.
By March of 2006, I had decided to get back to writing music, and with such an internal push that I knew paper and pencil were not going to cut it. I wanted to hear the music and make it so others could hear it as well. In short order, I ordered Finale and began to compose once more. Very soon after that, I discovered the far superior notation software, Sibelius 4 (now upgraded to 5), and moved immediately to it. I have not looked back since.
As I began to compose again, I sought out information on MIDI, and that lead me to the Music Contest and Midi Original Archives, a.k.a. Midi-Contest (http://www.midi-contest.com/), which has further re-energized my desire to compose. I'm a member of My Music Contest (http://www.mymusiccontest.org/), as well. I have also joined CompositionToday (http://compositiontoday.com/).
That, then, is what brings this all about. I know I'm having a great time writing music again, and exploring some older pieces I have forgotten about. I hope you enjoy listening to what I've created.
