Phono is the brain child of Joe "Phono" Ashton. Very young learning all the instruments he could get his hands on, he excelled in music. In 2002 "Dementia" Phono’s first album release rocked Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. "The album was a journey into the depths of my life experiences at that moment." Says front man Joe Ashton. "It was a very dark place, with fragments of happiness popping up here and there." Fast forward to 2005, Phono’s newest cathartic creation "The Changeover" is completed and can be purchased from any online retailer. Phono’s third full length release "NOCIAN" is nearing completion. Phono’s influences are rooted in the musical genius of artists like Nine Inch Nails, Stabbing Westward, David Bowie, Aphex Twin, The Beatles, Queen, Enigma and so on.
Phono’s industrial beats, instrumentation and harmonic vocal melodies create contrasts that express dynamic emotional qualities. Phono creates music with the intention of taking the listener on an emotional journey. History:
