DJ Litespeid’s music venture began early on in life. First memories of listening to the Beach Boys escalated into thrashing to such bands as Pennywise, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Rancid, O.T.S., The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Tool while snowboarding in the mountains of Maine. DJ Litespeid moved to Florida permanently in 1997, where he continued with skateboarding.
In 1997, after attending a Chemical Brothers live show, he took his first steps toward his music career by purchasing a set of Gemini PT500’s, a mixer and a few records. Quickly becoming an addiction, Litespeid wanted more and more records. Practicing day in and day out, always wanting more. Studying the roots of EDM culture, watching video footage of raves and overseas shows. Seeing the way the crowd reacted to the performances was like nothing He had ever seen before. Like when someone sees their first medical show and knows they’re going to be a doctor…DJ Litespeid instantly knew hye was going to be a performer. Specifically, in the EDM genre. Anybody can play records, but a true DJ puts on a performance. That’s what he strives for.
A few years into it, DJ Litespeid began producing tracks. He started off with Fruityloops in the year 2000, moving on to Sony AcidPro and other programs that open up a whole new world of sounds to him. That took his production to the next level. Building patterns and melodies, bringing tracks together with a comfortable flow…like second nature.
