I have been playing guitar since my early teens and through my 20's and 30's played in anumber of bands with varying levels of success (i.e. from total failure through not quite total failure). I have always regarded myself as more of a songwriter than a musician - although my guitar playing is moderately competent and I can bash a few keyboard chords and stuff too. I guess my one regret with all of that is, I spent far too many years dreaming of being a rock superstar rather than developing my songwriting skills and pushing that side of my interest. So here I am, now in my 50's, still writing but playing only to amuse myself these days. I now own an 8 track MRS 8 but use it rarely as my recording skills are next to zero. I have also found that, no longer having people around to 'bounce' ideas off, has depleted my motivaion and enjoyment - hence my recently joining a couple of sites and forums where I can perhaps do just that!
