Brandy Maples is the daughter of a Mississippi preacher. She is the last of four children born in a very talented and musically inclined home. Brandy attended her father’s church in a small, southern, Mississippi town from the age of two until she met and married the love of her life, Jeff Maples, in 2004. Music has always been an integral part of Brandy’s life. As a young girl, singing came naturally to her. She began playing the piano, organ, drums and keyboard for church services, and eventually became the music director and lead singer. Although Brandy was practically reared in church, this did not stop her wild side from emerging. Her rebel spirit would take her to places to hang with people who did not meet her dad’s approval. Brandy’s passion has always been singing and recording music. She met New York City songwriter/producer, Ken Cedar, who wrote and produced Brandy’s first two songs – Daughter of a Mississippi Preacher and What’s Mine is Yours. The mid-temp Daughter of a Mississippi Preacher describes Brandy’s childhood experience of being a preacher’s kid, singing in church, living her wild teenage years, and loving music. What’s Mine is Yours is a beautiful 12/8 ballad celebrating a thoroughly devoted love and is destined to become a classic wedding song.
