Thanks Kev, kind words. I too gave up the sax after 6 months in the early 90's. My practice routine is "wrong" in that I spend most of my time noodling around and not reading stuff. I just play by ear, although my reading is improving. The use of aebersolds has helped, and one exercise book "Klose's 25 daily exercises" is invaluable. I also have played a few transcriptions from saxsolos.com. Good luck with it, as for tone, I just keep trying to get the sound to match the one in my head, if that makes sense

Just dropping you a line to show how much I rate your playing (Youtube), It's really nice to hear someone playing with the same kind of magic that Art Pepper, Zoot Simms and Stan Getz had. I'm a guitarist just like yourself and have previously played the sax and then given up (twice), though I'm still drawn back to playing it.
Have you any advice for a guitarist learning to play the sax? I have a bit of technical knowledge about playing around changes and was wondering how you dealt with picking up the sax and what kind of practice routine you had initially. Your tone is amazing...any tips on improving would be gratefully received.
