I grew up, and still live in rural North Carolina, in Surry County. I played in a regional rock 'n roll band - Stryder - for 6½ years back in the late 70s and early 80s. I left the music scene for 20 years. In 2004, I got a hammered dulcimer, changed my musical tastes, and began a journey into playing and recording with a new assortment of instruments. When not playing out by myself, I play with the group The Middle of NoWhere Players. We consist of Bobbi Bodenhamer on hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer and Indian Flute, RG Absher on Banjo, guitar, fiddle, hammered dulcimer (if I can just talk him into lugging around 4 instruments), and me on hammered dulcimer, bowed dulcimer and guitar. I have a wonderful wife of 28 years, a son, Cory, 23, who is at North Carolina State University majoring in Industrial Design and Civil Engineering, and a daughter, Kelsey, 10, who is a sportsaholic (is playing organized basketball, soccer and softball at the same time!).
