Black Atticus is from Knoxville TN and has been a hip hop junky as long as he can remember. He blames his mother for playing 45's of the Beastie Boy's (Brass Monkey) and Fresh Prince (Touch of Jazz) early in the morning before she went to work for his addiction. He started out like most emcees, just freestyling to himself and friends, but it wasn't until he hooked up with a group (The Fluid Engineerz), in 2002, did he start taking his rhymes and creating music more seriously. Since the groups break up in 2004, Atticus has developed his craft of words through slam poetry (he's been a nationally ranked slam poet for six years now) and is currently the longest standing voice for Knoxville's 'Edutainment Hip Hop Show'(on 90.3FM WUTK- THE ROCK). In the last two years, he's joined forces with THE THEORIZT (www.thetheorizt.com), has become one of two lead vocalist, and also has merged talents with a california producer named Average Thought --who remembered Atticus from the 'Love For This' single, which the Fluid Engineerz released a decade prior; and they are currently forming a duet team called "Black Ave". Black Atticus says his main focus now is to go his own way as a solo artist, and so far it has panned out well for his fans, and new listeners.
