ABStowe is a relatively new performer to the Fox Valley Area, but he is not new to music. After taking two classical guitar classes at Harper College in 1979, he focused primarily on guitar instrumentals and some cover songs, rarely playing for anyone other than family members. He frequently jokes about playing on his back porch for an audience of one--his beloved collie, Boo. Eventually he started playing guitar in support of his twin sister Jacque's vocals at church during Christmas and Easter. In 2005, after suddenly losing a close friend, he started to write songs as an emotional release. Ten years later, ABStowe has touched the hearts of audiences with his mellow, sometimes hard, country voice and sweet guitar melodies. A twenty year Saint Charles resident, AB has performed for Saint Charles Live and several restaurant /pubs in the area. He has been asked about his unique stage name---ABStowe. Short for Abner Stowe, he was actually an ancestor who fought as a Minuteman in the American Revolution. ABStowe has simple philosophy for his music and life-- less is actually more.

Re-working Some Songs
Jan 26, 2009
I added new versions of three songs written in 2008...Don't Jerk Me Around, Can You Tell Me, and I'll Give You a Nickel. Personally, I think Don't Jerk Me Around is my best recording. I'm interested in your feedback so don't hesitate posting your comments. I'd love to have someone else with a better voice sing Can You Tell Me so let me know if you're interested in singing that one. I wish all of you a fantastic 2009!
The New York Best Seller, The Shack, was my inspiration for this song

My latest song, An Old Man Cries By the Sea, was inspired by the wonderful book, The Shack. The story effectively speaks about the good and the evil in this world and how we are sometimes blinded by our own perceptions of how God fits into all of this. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking truth. The song, while inspired by The Shack, probably more closely follows the story line in the movie, Citizen Kane or Bruce Almighty. Thanks for listening.

I just loaded a new song called "Can You Tell Me". I know you'll agree with me that it feels so good when you complete a piece of work. Anyway, I hope you like the song and you wish the best with your songwriting and music.

Since there are no messages out here, I thought I might as well break the ice. I know you're probably thinking the music is kind of folky and my voice is kind of pitchy--you'd be right on both counts. I'm really trying to become a better singer, if that is possible. I really enjoy writing songs though. I've been playing guitar ever since college...so that's about 28 years. However, I've only been song writing for just a couple of years. I've got a long way to go--you may find my songs corny, perhaps, the wrong word choice, too. I'm open to suggestions on how to improve. I have a lot more video that I'm going to put out here...I think I sound better when you can see me play--what do you think? Anyway, got to go for now. Hope you enjoy the songs!
Thanks for listening and for the good comments. Willie Joe
