I have been addicted to music since I was born, and tunes keep coming to me, and ideas and I battle to keep up.... but I love my muse! I would like my music to speak for itself, as I am not going to toot my own horn, but....... according to the press....Summer issue 1992 of BMI Music World at the Crossroads Music Festival in Memphis, Ian Allen of Rhythm Method was written up as best unsigned act in the USA (That was a while ago I know, the band had a record label deal on the table with Mitch Brodie, who at the time was an A&R guy with Elektra Records and our managers Bill Gladstone and Jon Hornyak (then owner of the legendary Sun studios), but I walked away from it all for a while and am now slowly getting back and doing it on my terms). I still think corporate rock sucks! Music is not just a product! In an article in the North County Times it was written that: "Allen's subject matter is a little more threatening, a little more dangerous, and for that he needs music on the edge". It goes on to say that: "Allen wraps his political message in a pop melody and drives it home with jungle rhythms".
Finally - about time - better late than never - new music coming!

Really excited as I am working with Grammy award winning Alan Sanderson who has recorded albums for the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Weezer, Fiona Apple etc etc -
12 songs in the works- I had promised to announce the musicians involved in the recording, and I will start now by announcing the drummer, Barry Van Zyl - I have known Barry since I was a kid, or at least an early teen, and am thrilled to have him as the drummer on this project.
He studied at Drumtech in London and at The Musicians Institute, Hollywood, CA.
He's been a member of the Johnny Clegg Band since the '90's, with a global touring schedule. Recent highlights include him performing or recording with Annie Lennox, Carlos Santana, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Ernest Ranglin, Brian May, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, The London Chamber Orchestra, The Soweto Gospel Choir and Oliver Mtukudzi, and now ...me!
The amazing Josh Hawks from the multi platinum selling band Freshly Ground is on bass - couldn't imagine a more smoking hot rhythm section! The lead guitarist is again my old friend Brad Nel - we have been best friends since we were in the army together as teenagers. He has been a long time collaborator, and we've been through it all. "...Stay Tuned..." will be be the name of the album, and it is sounding incredible! Me on acoustic guitar singing my songs backed by this amazing rhythm section with their tribal African rhythms, and the most inventive guitar playing by Brad, all being produced and mixed by the legendary Alan Sanderson! You can't wait to hear this...... stay tuned.... oh, and once you have heard, spread the word! Thanks so much for your support, it is appreciated so much!
